Yet another page I put together on used motorcycle prices and other motorcycle info.
What affects used motorcycle values?
Want to save a few hundred dollars on your next bike? This auction listing site could help. It does cost about 20 dollars to get in, but if you find the right auction, that 20 dollars could save you a few hundred.
I also publish a Squidoo lens on motorcycle prices, insurance, loans, gear, and more.
There are a couple motorcycle blue book choices; Kelley Blue Book and the NADA price guide. There are a number of online blue books, but this post is only concerned with these two printed books.
The Kelley Blue Book has been around for more than 80 years. And during that time, the company that publishes this particular blue book has made sure it’s one of the best known price guides.
They do publish more than one motorcycle price guide, so take care when doing business with dealers. Be sure to get yourself a copy of “Kelley Blue Book Auto Market Report – Official Guide” if you’re going to buy a used bike from a dealer.
The National Automobile Dealers Association Appraisal Guide is the other motorcycle blue book you can use to research how much a bike may be worth. This guide has been published since 1933.
Also, a blue book is more than a price guide…it features a lot of other motorcycle information, as well. So, even if you’re not in the market to buy or sell a bike, having one of these motorcycle blue books can be handy.
Finally, if you’re looking to buy a used bike, you may be able to find one cheap at a government seizure auction. To do the research, do this…sign up at the Sheriff Auctions website. It costs about 20 bucks, but you get access to really good government auction lists. If you can save a couple hundred dollars on a bike that’s being auctioned, then it’s worth it.
Then, before you bid on a bike, double check its blue book value. This article really covered the print versions of the Kelley Blue Book and the NADA guide, but you can use their websites to get a feel for current bike values.
